It's Like A Whole Other Country...

....and we're moving there!!! San Antonio to be exact. I'm nervous and excited and scared of the cockroaches and worried about having to worry about fleas with Chewy and excited and emotionally exhausted... *takes a deep breath*

Holiday Notes/2010 Reading

I think my first New Year's resolutions is going to be to carry my camera around with me. I threw a pretty cool party for Scott's 30th birthday, didn't take one picture. Tony came home from his mission; I actually brought the camera that time and found the battery dead.
Anyway, Christmas was great; birthday was fun - despite having a UTI and the stupid tonsillitis coming back. I'm 30. Thirty. Weird. It's really not THAT old. It just sounds really old. As for the rest of my NY's resolutions...haven't thought of any yet. I'll get back to ya...

Here's my 2010 reading list. I read 33 books this year. Feel free to browse through and see if anything interests you.

The Cedar Cove Series (books 1 -10) by Debbie Macomber
Just great, easy to read, enjoyable Chick-lit. I fell in love with the characters!

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Classic book. I'd read it when I was younger but it'd been a while so I picked it up again.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia
Really quite stupid. I surprised myself by bothering to finish it.

Jane Eyre by Charolette Bronte
Second time through. Still liked it.

Keys to the Demon Prison (Fablehaven #5) by Brandon Mull
Really enjoyed this series. The first one took a while to get going and I wasn't so sure about it. But when I picked up the 2nd I couldn't put it down and so it went with the rest of the series. And I sort of had a little-girl-crush on the character Warren.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians (books 1 - 5) by Rick Riordan
I've always had a fascination with greek mythology so I really enjoyed this series. More fun kids books :)

Along the Shore: Tales by the Sea by LM Montgomery
I normally love anything by Montgomery but these stories were a little boring.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer
One of the best books I've read in a long time. Great whit and pros; great, lovable and crazy characters.

Mr. Darcy Broke My Heart by Beth Pattillo
Fun, light Chick-lit with wonderful Jane Austin references. Note: read Pattillo's first novel, Jane Austin ruined my life in order to understand the significance of certain characters :)

The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl
I felt a bit like I was "just trying to get through it", but then when I finished I was glad I did. It's definitely an intellectual book; not a light read. There's a lot of characters and a lot going on.

The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles #1) by Rick Riordan
In this series Riordan ditches Greek mythology and goes to ancient Egypt - which also fascinates me. Cool kids book :)

The Hunger Games (books 1 - 3) by Suzanne Collins
Great series. Scared the crap out of me when I stopped and thought about how the human race could end up there...

Treasure Island by Robert Louise Stevenson
I'd never read this one before and was surprised by it. It was interesting reading about where a lot of the classic pirate sayings and things come from; but at the same time I expected it to be a bit more exciting. It was still worth reading.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer
Cool insight into the life of Twilight newborn vampires.

Skipping Christmas by John Grisham
I try to read this one every year. So great. Classic Grisham, dry humor.

The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck
Interesting insight into the mind of an angry teenager. Great story with a great moral.
